Pittsburgh, Pa – Promoter Derek Gionta and his management team bring another quality professional boxing competition to fans Saturday, May 7, as Murrysville Madness II invades the Murrysville SportZone.
Gionta commented to Patrick Varine of triblive.com about going back to the SportZone, “It’s a nice-sized place with those elevated stadium seats. It’s a nice spacious venue, there are a lot of hotels and restaurants in the area, and it’s easy to get to if you’re coming off the Turnpike.”
This time matchmaker Brian Dillon has the Steel City’s unbeaten super middleweight prospect Eric Lomax (4-0-0, 3 KOs) in the four-round main event as he confronts Joseph Aguilar (1-0-1, 1 KO) of Portland, Oregon.
Lomax fought on the first Murrysville Madness in September 2021 and won by technical knockout at 2:51 of the fourth against Jacob Ikaika Martin (1-1-0). Aguilar persevered to collect a four-round majority draw in February 2022 when he faced Edel Gomez (5-0-1, 5 KOs) in Omaha, Nebraska.
I believe people need to keep a close watch on the entertaining Lomax. He brings excitement and charisma to any ring in any arena. Gionta told me previously, “He is a very respectful, hard-working young man and fights with a nice combination of skill and will.”
Coming together in the six-round middleweight co-feature match is Danny Rosenberger (8-9-4, 2 KOs) from Youngstown, Ohio, and Jonathan Ryan Burrs (4-4-0, 1 KO) of Frederick, Maryland. Rosenberger enjoys a two-fight win streak while Burrs won two out of his last three contests. Gionta feels this encounter could steal the limelight as both pugilists rarely take a step backward.
Franklin Park super middleweight Mary Casamassa steps through the ropes for her first professional battle in a four-round clash against Omaha’s Jozette Cotton (0-1-1). The 22-year-old southpaw was the 2018 Pennsylvania Golden Glove champion in the 152-pound women’s open class. She played basketball for the Aquinas Academy of Pittsburgh and the Norwich University Cadets.
Casamassa spoke to Paula Green of northernconnectionmag.com in 2017, “I chose boxing because it is difficult and requires courage.”

Looking over his fight card Gionta said, “Aguilar will be Eric’s toughest test to date. Burrs vs Rosenberger is going to be a really good fight, too. I’m excited for Mary Casamassa’s pro debut on our show. I’ve known her since her amateur days. I did some matchmaking for her over the years for Golden Glove events and other shows. We recently signed a deal with her and look forward to the future”
