Pittsburgh 2021: Boxing Returns To Oakland Saturday Night

By Larry Snyder

Pittsburgh, Pa – The Sweet Science comes back to the Steel City neighborhood of Oakland Saturday, November 13, in the Cathedral Room at St. Nicholas church. Local promoter Michael McSorley, Jr. and his Integrity Fighter Management group associated with Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing offers an exciting professional and amateur boxing event. Fans enter at 6:00 p.m., and the first bell tolls at 7:00 p.m.

For the 10-round main event, matchmaker Brian Dillon has the WBA NABA Super Bantamweight Belt on the line when Pittsburgh southpaw Oleh Dovhun (12-0-0, 5 KOs) steps between the ropes to face one of Maryland’s best Glenn Dezurn (14-2-1, 10 KOs) from Baltimore.

Dovhun, 27, came to the City of Bridges four years ago from Stebnyk in Ukraine. He disposed of his last two opponents in 2021, Julio Garcia and Brandon Grimmett, by first-round technical knockout on fight cards in Ashland, Kentucky. The 34-year-old Dezurn’s adversaries lost by TKO in the first or second round in his last three bouts. Both Dovhun and Dezurn have also gone the distance in eight-round match-ups in their respective careers.

A pair of undefeated Super Featherweights highlight the six-round Co-Feature of the evening. Rosalindo Morales (5-0-0, 0 KO) of Ellwood City, PA is prepared to clash with Arturo de Islas (2-0-0, 1 KO) from Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico.

Morales is a 26-year-old southpaw and former U.S. Marine. He claimed the Pennsylvania State Golden Gloves championship in 2016. All five of his professional encounters have gone the four-round distance, and Rosey enjoys unanimous decisions against all of his challengers. Can the 22-year-old de Isla summon another four-round UD of his own as he did in his previous confrontation against Rogelio Bautista (1-3-1) back in September 2020?

Lucas Adams (1-1-0) from Butler, PA, is ready to claim the second victory of his career in a six-round cruiserweight contest against Matt Wright (4-1-0, 2 KOs) of Morgantown, West Virginia. The 25-year-old Adams, who goes by the moniker “Hands of American Steel,” won his first pro outing in March 2019 by unanimous decision over Michael Brock Willis (1-8-1, 1 KO) at the Priory Grand Hall in Pittsburgh.

Wright brings to the ring a unanimous decision victory over Adams in April 2019 on promoter Steve Simons’ fight card at the Waterfront Hotel in Morgantown.
