Washington, PA – It was another stirring evening of boxing Saturday, Sept. 21st, 2019, brought together for combat sports fans by Matt McGovern and World Fighting Championships at the Meadows Racetrack, Casino, and Hotel.

Middleweight Clay Collard (4-1-3, 1 KO) of Cache Valley, Utah, collected the upset of the night with a six-round unanimous decision from judges Al Amelia, Dana DePaolo, and John Santore over Pittsburgh’s Gerald Sherrell (10-2-0, 5 KOs).

For the 26-year-old Collard, it was his third consecutive victory since a draw against Quincy LaVallais Saturday, June 29th, 2019, at Harrah’s Casino in New Orleans. Sherell, 26, is 2-2 in his last four fights with wins over Morgan Fitch and Quatavious Cash to go along with losses to Morgan Fitch and Collard.

Beaver Falls’ Kiante Irving (6-0-0, 6 KOs) kept his record perfect with a first-round technical knockout of middleweight southpaw Darryl Bunting (4-6-2, 2 KOs) of Asbury Park, New Jersey. Referee Chris Riskus had the 25-year-old Irving go to a neutral corner at 44 seconds into the contest so he could begin his count on Bunting before finally waving off the matchup.

Four of Irving’s fights did not make it out of the first round, with the remaining two ending in the second. He commented on his Facebook page, “I’m just takin’ what God will give me.”

The Steel City’s Richie Cantolina (5-0-0, 2 KOs) moved his career forward by garnering his fifth consecutive victory with a four-round unanimous decision against super welterweight Tyler Collins (0-2-0) from Lake Milton, Ohio.

Cantolina, 30, wrote on his Facebook profile, “Well… where do I start what do I even say, I’ll start with this the sport of professional boxing is full ups and downs from practices to fights, some nights you’re unstoppable and other nights your off a little. I’m not going to talk shit it’s over and done with. We walked away with a unanimous decision victory tonight to go to 5-0, it wasn’t pretty but a win is a win. I have better in me I just couldn’t find my rhythm tonight. Last fight I put him away in one minute tonight I struggled to put it all together but it’s over and I won’t dwell on it, it’s part of the ups and downs.”
