Erie, Pa. – The Bayfront Convention Center will be pulsing with the excitement of Mixed Martial Arts action on Saturday, Aug. 10, as Bizzarro Promotions, present Bayfront Brawl 8 for combat sports fans.
Ernie Bizzarro and matchmaker Nicole Castillo provide young warriors the chance to set new personal standards of success as the victories they obtain permit them to move their careers forward. Several of the participants hail from the Greater Erie area and train at local gyms like 3 Elements Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA.
Nolan Stahl makes his professional flyweight debut when he enters the cage in the main event to battle Joshua Oxendine from Pembroke, North Carolina. The 27-year-old Erie native is the second-ranked amateur flyweight in the Keystone State per Tapology.com after assembling a record of 7-3-0 and winning his last five consecutive matchups.
Oxendine, 25, went 5-5 as an amateur and wants to rebound from a first-round pro loss in May 2019 to Jornel Jugo at CES 56 in Connecticut. He won two of his amateur contests on strikes and one by submission.
The lineup has a trio of amateur title matches, including flyweight’s AJ Wilkins and Joe Sofranko; lightweight’s Elijah Humes and Collin Caprini; and light heavyweight’s Desmond Carroll and Shawn Reynolds.
Humes, one of Erie’s favorite MMA fighters, claimed the BP Lightweight crown at Bayfront Brawl 7 with a technical knockout on strikes at the two-minute mark of the second round against Eric Pozun. The 24-year-old is on a three-match win streak. Caprini, 27, has victories in four of his last five bouts and wants to put behind him the loss to Joshua Francis in January 2019 at Cowboy Fight Series 1 in Virginia.
Wilkins owns a two-fight win streak coming into Saturday while Sofranko has three consecutive victories. Fans are familiar with the 25-year-old Reynolds as his three triumphs came at Bayfront Brawl’s Four, Five, and Seven.
